East meets West Curriculum
Community-based Learning Project: Practice “Do small, think big”
SUIS Peiming community-based projects are driven by dynamic thinking and rooted in real world learning. Focused on the spirit of “taking action”, students will journey through five stages of discovery: wonder, questioning, exploration, design and taking action.
At lower grades, students will gain experiences inside and outside the classroom about meaningful issues affecting their community and the world. From these experiences, they will develop curiosity to understand these issues more deeply. As study continues, students will explore these issues to form initial opinions and develop solutions. And in their final year, students will learn to apply principles of the design cycle to investigate how to best make an impact:
The Higginbottom program: Inspire and steer young adults’ talent
The Higginbottom program, named after Sir Trevor Higginbottom, is the individualized learning program to provide tailored independent study for our students who demonstrate academic excellence.
Pedagogy
SUIS Peiming is learning focused. Our academic team designs lessons providing diverse opportunities for students to engage subject knowledge and skills. students will learn from…
· Experts: teachers, professionals, parents
· Peers: schoolmates will have the opportunity to teach, help, share knowledge and ask for help
· Oneself: individual self-study and reflection
· Sharing and showing: Presenting thoughts, experience and understanding to refine and consolidate what has been learned
· Taking action in the real world: Being aware of how behavior and action affects our community
